Controversy & Community in Dungeons & Dragons
A downloadable zine
The history of D&D is complicated, from interpersonal and corporate conflicts to real (though unfounded) "Satanic panic" from parents in the 1980s. But despite this drama, players all over the world have used this game to combat their personal "dragons" in their own lives.
Using clippings from articles, books, posters, TV scripts, websites, and even the original of D&D 0th ed. itself, this zine tells the messy, imperfect, ultimately uplifting story of how D&D came together (and how it continues to bring players of all kinds together!).
Content warning: this zine does contain some discussion of suicide, mental health emergencies, and personal traumas.
The "readable" version can be read on a digital e-book reader one page at a time.
The "printable" version can be printed and folded into your own booklet.
