A self-affirmation journey for real people who have to make real phone calls, a lot

How to play:

1. Call a phone number. Maybe it's a family member you haven't talked to in a while. Maybe it's your best friend. Maybe it's the bank/insurance company/doctor's office, because they messed up something, again. This game is most ideal for people who have to make phone calls fairly often in the natural course of their schedules.

2. Keep count of how many rings you hear before you either speak to a person, or are routed to a voicemail inbox. Write down that number somewhere.

3. After the call: read the text of the page in the attached downloadable guide, whose page number matches the rings number you wrote down.  (If your rings number was greater than 9, read the text on page 9.)  (If your rings number was exactly 0, read the text on page 10.)

4. Write down the page number in the next available blank space in the guide (indicated by the very first/frontpage).

5. Repeat this process for a total of 10 phone calls, such that all blanks below are filled.

6. Refer to your completed, “personal reference number” for the order of messages you can refer to in the future, as often as you need to.

Due to the fact that I spent 6-8 hours today on the road due to an unexpected last-minute trip, I had to SEVERELY modify the "phone ringing" mechanic down from what I had originally been thinking in my design planning session. But I'm really happy I stuck with making this first Inktober game entry a reality for its own sake, without making my brain too sore from making the phone-ringing mechanic be unnecessarily complex (even if it was really cool in my notebook!)
